This Code of Ethics is a set of principles to provide guidelines of professional conduct with clients, colleagues, and community. As a member of the Utah Professional Organizers, I pledge to exercise judgment, self-restraint, and conscience in my conduct, to establish and maintain public confidence in the integrity of UPO members and to preserve and encourage fair and equitable practices among all who are engaged in the profession of organizing.
Clients:
● I will serve my clients with integrity, competence, courtesy and objectivity.
● I will keep confidential all client information, both business and personal.
● I will offer services in the areas in which I am qualified. When unable to provide for the client’s needs I will recommend other qualified organizers or professionals.
● I will communicate my fees in advance and in an honest manner.
● I will advertise my services in an honest manner and will represent the organizing industry accurately and professionally.
● I will keep client information confidential and not use it to benefit my firm, or myself or reveal this information to others.
● I will have appropriate liability insurance.

Colleagues:
● I will seek to deal with other UPO members in a fair and equitable manner, and maintain the highest standards of personal conduct to build up our organization.
● I will respect the intellectual property rights (materials, titles, and thematic creations) of my colleagues and will not use proprietary information without permission.
● I will deal openly and directly with any area of conflict. I will endeavor to reach agreement in a professional and courteous manner.
Community:
● I will strive for excellence in all aspects of the organizing profession.
● I will strive to improve the practices of UPO and to enhance our organization.
